EDIBLE CELLS

Each year 8th graders look forward to the annual Edible Cell project in Mrs. Cooksey's room. This year was no exception!  Student groups had to create a model of either a plant or animal cell using only edible materials. Cells are judged by the faculty in 4 categories; most accurate, most creative, most delicious, and most accurate.   The students did not disappoint this year, they created some very interesting and delicious cells!!!

STUDENTS MEASURE WINDSPEED

Mrs. Dishman's Environmental Science class is in the process of measuring wind speed and rainfall amounts. Students realized,  after setting up the anemometer that they constructed, that the only way to get an accurate reading was to elevate the anemometer.  So... students grabbed a shovel and placed stakes to reposition their weather instruments to yield more accurate results.

SCENES FROM THE STATE FAIR

Several CCMS students completed application to hopefully be selected to participate in the Kentucky State Fair.  There were several excellent applications, but only 5 students were chosen to attend the fair and help manage the Cumberland County booth. CCMS Assistant Principal, Mrs. Angela Morrison, accompanied these students, and as you can see the students and Mrs. Angela had an outstanding day, and was a very big help at the Cumberland County booth.

Thanks to the Cumberland County Retired Teachers Association and the Cumberland County Chamber of Commerce for making this opportunity available to our students.
