GORGEOUS FALL WEATHER

CCMS students enjoyed their afternoon break outside and
took full advantage of the gorgeous fall weather.
 







 

MISSOULA WEEK CONTINUES...

Missoula week continues at CCMS with a workshop for the CCMS student body about improvisation. 
 
Don't forget to check out this years production of the Secret Garden by Missoula Children's theater and the students of Cumberland County.  The presentation is this Friday at 7:00 at CCMS





KPREP CELEBRATION

CCMS teachers were very excited with the progress that students made during the 2013 state KPREP test.  Among the area middle schools, CCMS ranked 3rd with only Glasgow Middle School and Taylor County Middle School.  Way to go CCMS students we are very proud of you!!

MISSOULA CHILDREN'S THEATER COMES TO BURKESVILLE

Nearly 100 students across the district tried out for the annual Missoula Children's theater production.  Throughout the week students will get to participate in various workshops with the Missoula Actors.  Today's workshop...Put Your Best Foot In!

LIVE WEB CAST WITH AUTHOR KEVIN HENKES

6th graders at CCMS got to participate in a live web cast from Texas, with author Kevin Henkes.  Henkes explained the writing process, his career as a writer and talked about his new book, The Year of Billy Miller.  Look for this book in your school library in the coming weeks.
 




 

Journey Down the Nile

7th grade social studies students put on our life jackets and stepped aboard an Ancient Egyptian boat to journey up and down the Nile River, complete with ancient Egyptian music for the trip. Well... No not really, there was music but not a real boat! :) However, we are working on a project entitled Journey Down the Nile. 
 


 

WAVES

Mrs. Brittany's science class experimented with waves, to learn more about the parts of  wave.  Who knew Slinky's could be fun and educational at the same time.

Peanut Butter Totals

CCMS students donated 200  jars of peanut butter to send to children in Haiti.  Way to go CCMS!!!


United Trappers of Kentucky

Former CCMS principal and member of the United Trappers of Kentucky, Leon Smith highlighted the upcoming Fall Fling of the United Trappers Society in a CCMS assembly.

The United Trappers of Kentucky promote ethical trapping and conduct seminars to teach trapping and fur handling methods to beginners and experts alike.  They also have a scholarship fund to Kentucky students who wish to pursue a career in Wildlife Management.

7th GRADE PROJECT ALERT

Mrs. Karen Henson meets weekly with 7th graders to present "Project Alert".  Project Alert is a program that helps students make healthy decisions about drugs and alcohol and provides opportunities for students to practice saying NO to peer pressure.
 

Mrs. Henson also proved the myth that "everybodys doing it" is really a myth!!
