21st CENTURY FUTURE CITY TEAM

The CCMS 21st Century Future City Team traveled to Lexington to compete against 12 other schools for the annual Future City competition. This years theme was storm runoff. Each future city design had to be designed in a manner that would prevent storm run off. The competition is conducted in various stages including writing an essay and narrative about their future city, designing a virtual city, building a model of their city, and presenting their future city before a panel.

We are so proud of our CCMS future city team you did a great job representing Cumberland County Middle School.

6TH GRADERS LEARN ABOUT ADAPTATIONS

This may just look like a mess of macaroni, rubber bands and paperclips in the floor, but there was a purpose behind this madness.

The students in Ms. Dishman's 6th grade science class were given objects such as straws, and clothes-pins and required to pick up as many objects from this "mess" as possible.  Students found that this was not an easy task, and quickly figured out that adaptations are necessary for survival in the Animal world.
